Biancograt
I have been dreaming about this photograph for months.
In the spring of 2024 I started planning the logistics to be able to photograph the Biancograt, an iconic ridge in the Bernina group that is normally climbed to reach Piz Bernina (4048m).
In order to take this photograph, I embarked on what was for me a real mountaineering undertaking.
A month before the shot, I organized a training outing on the Morteratsch glacier to become familiar with the basic maneuvers of mountaineering and progression on ice.
At the beginning of July I finally attempted to climb Piz Morteratsch (3751m), a privileged point from which to photograph the Biancograt.
This is my personal vision of a ridge that expresses all its elegance through the strong contrast between the west (in shadow) and east faces.
